Project Manager: Mr David Ma'ai

Graduated with a bachelor’s in computer science from Unitech in PNG, Mr. David Ma’ai brings to the project 19 years of experience in managing national projects of similar scale working with rural communities in the Solomon Islands. These includes holding positions of Project & Technical Manager for the “People First Network Project”. Before joining SPIRES, Mr Ma’ai involved in various consultancy engagements as a consultant. Since taking up the Project Manager Role for SPIRES in June 2021, Mr Ma’ai has geared the project into achieving its mile stones, contributing to the overall objectives of the project.

Chief Technical Adviser: Mr. Andrew Daka

Mr Andrew Daka is the current Chief Technical Advisor to the project, he offers more than 21 years of electrical power engineering experience in design and construction of electrical networks for small utilities, desktop reliability studies and reliability driven capital investments, investigations into failures, Performance Data Management/Analysis. Budgeting and Project/Contract Management. Mr Daka will be with the project on a short term contract providing his technical expertise to the project.

Finance & Admin Officer: Mr. Yancy Legua

Mr. Yancy Legua before the joining the team has been working for Oxfam as a Project Finance Officer and also has ample experience in the finance and administration sectors of private firms, organisations and also projects such as this. Mr Legua has been working on a similar project under UNDP-SWISAP as a Finance and Administrative Assistant and is well-versed of the procedures and protocols of UNDP & SIG. As of Currently Mr. Legua is the Finance & Administrative Officer for the project.

National Project Engineer: Mr. John Hauirae

Mr. John Hauirae is a skillful civil engineer and has been working with MID as a trainee engineer for the past year. He has just recently completed his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the Fiji National University in the year 2020. Mr Hauirae has been working mainly on projects nationally under the Ministry of Infrastructure and also SMEC a private contracter company. Mr Hauirae is now the National Project Engineer for SPIRES Project.

Assistant National Project Engineer: Ms. Lania Temahua

Ms. Lania Temahua is a civil/environmental engineer that has ample experience in the engineering field from working for both construction and consultancy firms. Working mainly on projects internationally and nationally, Ms. Temahua is well eqipped with the duties and responsibilties that lie within project protocols. Ms. Temahua is the current National Assistant Project Engineer.

Before Joining the SPIRES Project, Mr. Wakiomari has been working as the Principal Accountant at the Ministry of Police, National Security & Correctional Services of Solomon Islands ( MPNS&CSSI). Not only that, He also worked with the Inland Revenue Division (IRD) as a debt and Legal recovery Officer under the Ministry of Finance & Treasury (MOFT) in 2013. Before that, Mr. Wakiomari also worked with the Malaita education Authority as a secondary school teacher in training (TIT) for six (6) years in various schools in Malaita Province. With his broad experience in these different working sectors, He is now currently recruited by the SPIRES Project as the Projects Procurement Officer (PPO).

Assistant Procurement Officer: Mrs. Cindy Karaori

Mrs. Karaori has been working as a part time salary officer for SINPF from the year 2002 till 2003 and also have been an accounts & accounting officer with Tongs Corporation and United Auto for over 9 years, which has gained her the knowledge in the procurement and finance sectors. She is now taking the role of Assistant Procurement Officer for SPIRES.

Community Liaison Officer: Mr. Gregory Hulanga

Mr. Hulanga before joining the team has been working as an Assistant Plantation Manager at the GPPOL Plains from the year 2013 to 2015 and went on from there to being a project officer for WASH project under live n learn from 2016 till 2019. From his experiences Mr Hulanga has taken up the role of being the Community Liaison Officer for SPIRES.

Communication, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer: Ms. Jeanine Gadepeta

Ms. Gadepeta has recently completed her bachelors degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the Fiji National University and has been doing her internship with the Honiara City Council – Physical Planning Division. She is an outspoken lady and is well-versed with the basic communication skills required for project such as these. She is now working as a Communications, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer fro SPIRES Project.
